U.S. Hot Rod Thunder Nationals

We took Eamon to the Times Union Center in Albany, New York to see a Monster Truck show, on Sunday. He was excited. He had been waiting a couple weeks since we found out about the show being in Albany.

There were a few challenges for the trucks. A couple that I remember were racing and a wheelie competition over some crushed cars. I think only one truck managed to get up pretty high.

There was this one guy who kept coming out making a scene, at first with his tiny monster truck, which I’m surprised he could fit into! Then, on a “Hardly Davidson”, and really wasn’t a Harley (get it?). And then on a little bicycle. It was cute though, seeing some big guy riding around on something you’d think only a kid would fit on.

Of course, the best part of the show, I think, was the freestyle competition, because each truck would do their own thing. A lot of it was spinning around really fast, and one of the trucks did that really well.

Also, during part of the show, there were several 5-8 year olds that raced their 4 wheelers around. One moved forward too soon and had to be pushed back a little bit further than the rest. Then another kid moved forward past the line before the race even started and when they finally noticed, that one was also pushed back. A girl won the race.

Then there was the BMX portion of the show. A few people jumped a ramp, doing a few tricks. It was very difficult getting that on camera without it coming out blurry. One person sat on the ramp while another one jumped over him with his bike.

The Monster Trucks that were there: The Broker, Thrasher, American Guardian, Anger Management, Dominator, and Virginia Giant.
