I’ve been a member of Helium for about two to three years. When I first started, Helium writers mainly wrote opinion based articles or short answers. Now, Helium has become more strict with this. Your articles pretty much have to be at least 2 paragraphs or more long. Spelling errors are eliminated with the spell check.

One thing I don’t like that they have done, is that in order for a new revision of an article to be added, other members have to rate it better than your old one. Some members may not know which one is better because they don’t have enough knowledge on the subject, or they just don’t see the difference. I’ve actually had to make two revisions to one article before it was finally accepted. Boy, was that a pain.

There’s also something else I really don’t like. You aren’t allowed to delete your articles. I have at least a couple articles that are not good anymore, partly because of the new changes to Helium, and that I don’t want to write a new article because I have nothing else to add to it. It’s my article, I should be able to delete it.

I’m not really complaining, just pointing out what I don’t like about Helium.

I do like that we are paid for our articles’ views. I also like the new ‘debate’ feature with writing articles. It gives everyone a chance to give their opinion on a subject. But, then, this also adds more and more of the same articles saying the same thing, like it was on the old Helium. Of course, if you can add something to the debate that someone else hasn’t, then go ahead!

If you like to write or want to get into writing, Helium is a good place to start. There are so many topics to write about already and if you think of a new one, you’re allowed to submit it. And, remember, when people view your articles, you will get paid.

If you’re not yet a member of PayPerPost and you have a blog, sign up now to get paid to blog! You could earn some really quick cash with just a few blog entries. Why? Continue reading!

PayPerPost announced today that they raised $7 million! That is awesome and I would love to have a share of that! Please send $1 million my way. I know, wishful thinking. I think they should use the money to provide us with more opportunities. Guess what, they are doing just that!

Right now they are having a Lucky 7s Promotion. PayPerPost is giving away $7,000 worth of opportunities. This will last for seven days and is open to all blogging members (regardless of Google Page Rank, Alexa Rank, etc.). The opportunities available will be worth $10.77, $70 and $700. You are allowed to take one of each, so take them while you can!

This is the best surprise I’ve seen PayPerPost give its members. I was even surprised that no one is excluded from the $700 opportunity. What it involves, I have no clue, but I can’t wait to see! I’m sure a lot of members with low ranked blogs will jump on the $700 opportunity if they can, because they may not see that much in quite a while!

Read the Press Release below:

The PayPerPost Revolution Accelerates, Sponsored
Blogging Marketplace Secures $7 Million Series B

Draper Fisher Jurvetson leads round and joins Board of Directors

ORLANDO, FL – (June 12, 2007) – PayPerPost, the leading marketplace for advertisers to reach bloggers and other consumer content creators, today announced it has completed a $7 million second round investment led by Draper Fisher Jurvetson, an investor in the company’s Series A and one of the world’s leading high-technology venture capital firms. The financing brings the total amount of capital raised by PayPerPost to over $10 million, giving the company considerable resources for further development as the industry’s leading Consumer Generated Advertising marketplace. Additional participants in the round include existing investors Inflexion Partners and Village Ventures as well as new investor DFJ Gotham. With this investment, DFJ Managing Director Josh Stein also joins PayPerPost’s Board of Directors.

“PayPerPost created this exciting new advertising space and has established itself as the industry leader,” said Ted Murphy, chief executive officer of PayPerPost. “Although we’ve only used a portion of our first round capital, this added support from investors unlocks significant growth potential. Our content creator and advertiser ROI metrics clearly demonstrate the upside for PayPerPost’s model. We intend to use this capital to build the infrastructure, visibility and professional expertise necessary to reach and retain a greater network of advertisers and content creators than ever before.”

Since its founding in June of 2006, PayPerPost has signed more than 6,500 advertisers to its groundbreaking service, which has enabled Consumer Content Creators to be compensated for their efforts discussing specific companies, products or services via blogs, videos or other media. The content creators are required to disclose relationships with advertisers on their blog, providing transparency for the end reader. Over 125,000 Internet postings, most in the form of blogs, have already earned money for their creators through PayPerPost’s innovative marketplace. PayPerPost recently released PayPerPost Direct, a disruptive new service that allows advertisers to contract and negotiate directly with individual bloggers they identify through a safe, managed system.

“PayPerPost has laid a strong foundation for the future,” noted Tim Draper, founder and managing director of Draper Fisher Jurvetson. “It continues to attract a critical mass of participants from both the advertising and blogging communities. Analogous to Overture’s sponsored search model, we believe PayPerPost’s business model holds disruptive potential and will enable the company to thrive in the evolving paid-content arena.”

To mark the $7 million dollar funding, PayPerPost has launched a new website detailing the company’s service offering at http://www.payperpost.com. Bloggers and advertisers can easily sign up at the site and begin leveraging the self service marketplace.

In March, I started writing blog entries for PayPerPost, which is a way for bloggers, companies, or anyone to advertise on blogs. It’s like having small commercials between my own entries, although, sometimes they give me something to write about when I can’t think of something myself.

I haven’t really made too much, only about $50. Of course I’m working on making that amount higher, to about $90. It probably would be more if I had written more from April to May, but I was too pregnant during that time.

I won’t be buying anything new with that money, just paying bills from things I’ve already purchased. Two of which I already mentioned in a previous entry; the Nintendo DS Wifi Max & Browser.

My favorite thing about PayPerPost is how they are always trying to improve their service, based on what we, the bloggers, want.

This is a great idea for anyone including news stories on their website or blog: The News Room. I know going from blog to blog, I have seen lots of people writing about the same news, so why not make yours stand out by including a video related to what you write about?

Since I live in the Northeast, I thought I’d share an example of news in the Northeast area to let you see the “mashing” of news in action. Which is very easy to do. Once you find the news you want to share, click on the “Mash” button.

<embed src="http://www.thenewsroom.com/mash/swf/cube.swf?a=f433&m=38894&v=1"base="." width="100" height="200" name="swfclipf433" allowScriptAccess="always" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" pluginspage="http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer">

As you can see, it’s not ugly and adds more to the content than just plain text. It’s very simple to add; just a small amount of code. There are so many choices of video content to add onto your website. And the best part? Earn money via advertising shares just for including videos! CPM starts at $1, which is not bad. Also, if someone wants to use the news video you put on your website, you can earn from that as well. Sounds good to me. Plus, you can earn prizes as well!

If you’re interested, signup! I signed up and plan on using the videos here.

Sponsored by The News Room

I had come across AGLOCO a while back and signed up to see what it was all about. At the time though, I wasn’t able to do anything with it. Now, just today, I found it again and was able to download the newly released viewbar and get started.

The viewbar is very nice looking, with the choice of different colors. Mine is green because the bottom of my wallpaper is green so it kind of blends in nicely. And, of course, I’ve chosen Google as my search engine, but you have the option of using Windows Live, Dictionary, Ebay, Yahoo and a few more.

Click on the preview below to view a screenshot of the viewbar in action on my desktop.

For those of you who haven’t heard of AGLOCO, it allows you to have a viewbar either at the top or bottom of the screen and it displays advertisements and lets you earn for your surfing. Just keep it open (doesn’t take up much screen). When you login to your account on the website, you are able to view how many hours you’ve used it and how many referrals you’ve accumulated, along with their hours as well.

Compared to those “Get Paid to Surf” programs that you are forced to login to a website and do your surfing via their surf script, it’s much nicer to have a program installed and just do your regular surfing.

For anyone wondering if they pay, I don’t know. I’m just testing them out as I’m sure a lot of other people are. We’ll see how far they go. Go check them out for yourself!

There are so many services around that offer ad space to advertisers and an income for publishers, which makes it really difficult to find the one that will work for you. Because Google AdSense is so popular, everyone thinks it’s the best choice because ‘everybody uses it.’ But, it actually isn’t the best choice for everyone. If the visitors to your website never click on ads, whatever their reason, then AdSense will never provide an income.

One that looks promising, is Dclickads. It works by allowing advertisers to choose the websites they would like their advertisements displayed on and which zones they prefer. There are a few zones that the advertisers are able to select for their banners. Standard text, banner, and premium embedded text ad zones. I like the premium embedded text ad zones option, because this means that anywhere inside of a paragraph an advertisement can be displayed.

Publishers are allowed to decide how much the ad zones cost and then advertisers decide if the price is right. Something else that Google AdSense doesn’t offer to publishers is the ability to choose whether the ad zone will be PPC or PPI. Good news for those of us who would like to have this option, Dclickads lets us choose! They really make it easy for both advertisers and publishers; and don’t forget it’s free to signup!

I may be impatient, but the only thing I don’t like is the waiting time before receiving a payment. If there was an advertisement on your website for one month, you have to wait 30 days after that before you receive a payment.

They even provide a really nice list of the publishers and their websites, which also displays the ad zones available and the age of the website. This can be very useful to advertisers. Check out Dclickads!

Dclickads gets 4.5 stars from me! I may sign up!

With the costs of hosting and the time spent writing blog entry after blog entry, bloggers need to earn a living, too. I have found several websites offering bloggers a chance to earn money. Mostly, it involves writing reviews.

If you know more about any of these websites, please comment so others can learn what you know, whether it’s good or bad. The following are not listed in any specific order.

ReviewMe

The first one is ReviewMe. To be approved, the blog must meet a minimum number of subscribers, citations and traffic. Also, you aren’t allowed to choose the reviews available to you, the advertisers choose which blog they want to display the review, but you are able to accept or decline any reviews that are available. Reviews need to be at least a minimum of 200 words. The review also needs to mention somewhere that it is being sponsored. Payments are made monthly; around the beginning of the month.

PayPerPost

PayPerPost is another one that seems to be extremely popular. The requirements for this one look a bit more strict, in that there are more requirements than others. Your blog needs to be submitted for approval. It also needs to be at least 90 days old (which is verified by an index from a third party). If your blog is over 90 days old, you need to have at least 20 entries in the past 90 days and your blog cannot have a 30 day gap of no entries. You do need to let your readers know that the blog entry is sponsored either via a disclosure policy or on every blog entry. The minimum age requirement is 18, otherwise you need written consent by a legal guardian. The blog needs to be in English. And, you need to have both paid and unpaid entries in your blog.

Blogitive

Blogitive looks really good. They pay you weekly via PayPal. There is no advertising, just give your opinion. You choose what you want to write. You are also allowed to have multiple blogs, which gives you a better chance of earning even more, especially if your blogs all have different topic themes. There is no conflict with current ads on your website. Your website does need to receive some traffic and be indexed into Google and Yahoo. Violence, adult content or hate related blogs are not allowed. There is a requirement that your blog is maintained with at least three entries per week and are at least three months old. I’m assuming the three entries per week means non-sponsored entries.

Creative Weblogging

Creative Weblogging is another one, but very new. Payment every month is $225 and paid via a PayPal or Moneybookers account. There is a requirement of 7-10 posts per week. If traffic grows, there are bonuses for this, up to an additional $50 per month. I guess one benefit is that there is a virtual shares program, and if you blog with Creative Weblogging for a year, you can earn virtual shares in the company. You need to have blogged for 30-60 days.

SponsoredReviews

This next one is SponsoredReviews. Write a review for an advertiser, whether it’s a product or service they provide. Each one has their own requirements for the review. It seems that you can say just about anything in your review as long as it is pertinent, but rude or hateful reviews will be declined. There is a requirement of a full disclosure that the review is sponsored and not just a regular blog entry (for example: “Sponsored Review”). Reviews need to be permanent and archived on your blog. When accepting to write a review, you have three days to complete it. Payments are made every two weeks via PayPal.

Blogsvertise

Last, but not least, Blogsvertise sounds good. One obvious requirement is that you must have a blog setup with written content. Adult related blogs are not allowed. The administrator will assign you the tasks to write about, which you have five days to complete. Three links to the website needs to be included in your entry. It isn’t necessary to endorse the advertiser’s products or services, just mention them in your blog. This means, you can mention how it relates to your life, give a review, compliment and/or make a complaint. There is a minimum requirement of at least 2-3 paragraphs of about 75 words or more. This entry needs to be permanent in your blog. One nice thing for people with newer blogs that may have hardly any content (besides being possibly rejected) may be put on probation at a reduced payout rate. Payments are made via PayPal after 30 days of task approval.

I’ve noticed some people saying It Pays To Learn is a scam, when most likely the people saying it have never even signed up, because if they had they would have seen that they do pay. The minimum amount you need to earn is $1, and it’s not that hard to reach that amount. I’ve been paid about 4 times already. The best thing about it too, is even if you have a Premier/Business account with PayPal, you won’t be charged a fee for receiving payments!

I’m here to prove that they do pay! After receiving my payment, just yesterday, I decided that I would take a small screenshot and post it up here for any one to see. I didn’t take a full screenshot, for obvious security reasons. Click the preview below to view the full image.

If you don’t know how It Pays to Learn works, then I’ll tell you. It’s very simple. After signing up, you need to confirm your PayPal account, by allowing It Pays to Learn to deposit a small amount into your account. Even before your PayPal account is confirmed, you can start earning money. You earn by reading the V-mail advertisements. This is set up this way so you do not receive advertisements via e-mail. Also, in order to earn that money you’ve made from reading the ads for the month, you need to take quizzes. You have to earn 500 quiz points for the month. The quizzes are very fun to take, and who knows, you might even learn something from them!

It Pays to Learn also allows you to earn from signing up to offers. They have a cash back bonus for signing up to the offers. Check them out!

UPDATE: It seems that at the end of 2006, IPTL was bought by someone, so I have no idea what goes on with the program anymore. I’d have to say I was surprised when I checked it out and it automatically resized my window (VERY annoying to me). So, if you sign up there, it may not be the same as what I state in this entry.

I don’t know about you, but like most people, I’ve searched high and low looking for the right program that would help me make money, even if it’s one dollar a month, because it’s better than nothing.

I’ve been paid by a few different ones, but it’s not much to brag about. For me, though, it’s something. I want to share that ’something’ with those of you who are interested. Although, I’m not going to go into full detail for each of them, I hope to give you some kind of idea of how they work and what they offer.

Helium is an article writing type of program. For example, do you need to know how to fix a light bulb? You can search for your problem on Helium, and if it’s there, you can read articles from regular people like yourself. The best part about this system is that it works, and you get paid for writing articles, depending on how often your article is viewed. Helium is also free to join.

It Pays To Learn is a really nice program. It lets you read advertisements via their website, instead of receiving e-mails. And in order to earn for viewing those advertisements, you must take a certain amount of quizzes for the month. It’s really easy and they really do pay you $1 when you reach $1. IPTL is also free.

UPDATE: Since they were bought by someone else, I have no idea what goes on with this program anymore and cannot say if it’s worth signing up to.

InboxDollars is a paid to read e-mail, take surveys, play games and more type of program. Even sign up to offers to earn you a lot more. This one is free, too.

I only chose a select few to include, because there are so many out there. Be careful when signing up to programs; some don’t even pay you. Decide for yourself, which one if any, is right for you. If you have a problem with putting in time, then these are probably not for you. It just takes a little bit of time each day.
