WordPress Self Destruction

I may be the last one on Earth to find this, but I thought I would share it for those of you who also don’t know about this hidden feature.

With the newer revisions feature in WordPress, there are two radio buttons next to each revision to allow you to compare. I thought I would compare a revision with itself. Not sure why, I just wanted to. Watch the following video to see the self destruction of WordPress.

I apologize for the looping of the video.

A Must Buy Game: Spore

I’ve been waiting for this moment. Okay, the moment isn’t here yet, but it’s very close! Spore is going to be released soon and is available for pre-ordering. Or you can wait to purchase it when it’s available on September 7, 2008. I really wouldn’t wait if I was you. Pre-order now before there’s a long wait! There will even be a Nintendo DS version someday!

If you haven’t heard of Spore, Spore allows you to create an entire universe and everything in it. Creatures you have created will interact with each other. Their lives are in your hands.

I can’t describe it any better than Justine Ezarik:

It feels like a cross between interaction of The Sims, object creation in Second Life and a bit of World of Warcraft on the side.

I actually first learned through one of her twitters that Spore Creator is available, also as a trial. I quickly went to download the huge file and installed it. I had so much fun creating a creature. I even had fun with him, in a kind of cruel way. Watch the video below to see what I mean. Explanation of what’s happening in the video below the video.

First, I named my creature Twotoe. I couldn’t think of anything very creative and since he has two toes on both feet, he became Twotoe! Meet Twotoe:

In the video: Twotoe notices a creature, shows some affection, notices another creature and seems to look a little disappointed with that one. He sees another one and shows some affection towards that one. The one he didn’t show affection to walks off looking sad. Then, the cruel joke I play on Twotoe begins (not intentionally). I make all three little creatures disappear. And he looks around wondering what just happened and then cries out.

If you have any videos of your Spore creatures, please share in the comments!

What Is Twitter and Why Do You Use It?

I felt like one of the last people to start using Twitter, even though I know there are so many people who still don’t know about it. Most of my friends and family have a MySpace account though. I don’t have a MySpace account and they don’t have a Twitter account, because they don’t really know about Twitter (or don’t understand it) and I don’t really care for MySpace.

Since I’ve had a Twitter account, I started to understand what it can be used for. I don’t have a lot of followers, but I don’t feel that I need a lot of followers. Although, that may say “Hey! I’m popular!”, but that’s not why I use Twitter.

I first started to use Twitter to see what all the buzz was about and then realized I could follow the same people who blog that I subscribe to in my RSS reader. Then, I found out I could also use Twitter to update whenever I published a new post on my blog, possibly grabbing more interested readers. (I don’t get a lot of traffic through Twitter this way, but it’s still worth a try.)

Twitter is also a great way to get help for anything like WordPress, computer problems, etc. I kind of think Twitter could possibly take the place of RSS feeds, because you can also hear about things in the news and a lot of bloggers use it to announce when they’ve published a new post on their blog.

Check out this video that explains what Twitter is. Video by leelefever.

I think Twitter is what you want it to be.

Now it’s your turn. Why do you use Twitter and has it helped you in anyway?

Vista Gadget: Wallpatch Video

I just found a Vista Gadget that has become my favorite. It’s difficult finding really good Vista Gadgets.

Wallpatch Video lets me watch movies right on the desktop. Now, I know some of you are thinking that most other players let you watch movies on the desktop, too. But, this is different. I don’t need to open up a player and I can customize the size of the screen and it’s on the desktop and out of the way. No toolbars, borders, or menus in the way. The options only appear when the cursor is over the gadget and auto-hide when the cursor moves off.

It’s very simple to use. I have been looking for something like this for a while. It lets me to continue doing anything else on the computer while the movie is playing.

I don’t know what video types it supports except for AVI, WMV and can play DVDs. It wouldn’t play W4V, which comes from iTunes. I would be very happy if it could!

Go check out Wallpatch Video, which is at version 2.0 now.

This video shows you how to create a basic website layout using Photoshop. If you’re familiar with Photoshop, it shouldn’t be hard to follow the video. If you’re new to Photoshop, it might be a little more difficult, because the video is so small that you can’t see some of what is shown. It doesn’t go into showing you how to slice and then code it. It only shows you how to create the design.
