I wish Google a very happy 9th birthday and many more! If it wasn’t for Google, I probably wouldn’t receive the amount of traffic that I do. Google brings more visitors here than any other search engine. Yahoo is second. But, who cares about Yahoo, it’s not Yahoo’s birthday!

Well, I’m not sure how this one snuck up on me, but I have never heard of this day until yesterday when a client wished me a Happy Talk Like A Pirate Day. Then Justine Ezarik had mentioned on Twitter about it getting out of hand.
It seems that yesterday, every year is International Talk Like A Pirate Day. September 19. How come I have never heard of this before? I was very curious so I entered it in Google and the first result was www.talklikeapirate.com. I guess it’s the official site for the day, so go check it out if you’re as curious as I was.
Did I talk like a pirate? No. But, I did have a good day yesterday!
Happy belated Talk Like A Pirate Day!
I’m sure many of you will notice the different Google ads in the header. I decided to go with Google’s link unit instead of the larger text ads, because I wanted to move the content up.
The larger ads didn’t look that great there anyway. I usually don’t receive that many clicks in the header. So, I’m using the link unit as a test to see if maybe visitors are more likely to click on keywords related to content here, rather than a full ad.
If any of you think it looks worse than the larger ads or even better, please let me know by leaving a comment. Also, if you have any suggestions for making the link unit more appealing to visitors, that would be great!
There’s a video by Yigal that shows a neat JavaScript trick to make Google images fly. Check out the video and then try it out for yourself. It’s just one of those things you have to see and then move on.
