AT&T Simplified Paper Billing

I just read over at Justine Ezarik’s blog that she received a free text message from AT&T (as did most other customers) about receiving simplified paper billing. Go check out the video Justine made to share this with everyone.

We are simplifying your paper bill, removing itemized detail. To view all detail go to att.com/mywireless. Still need full paper bill? Call 611

That’s great! I’m sure a lot of people will be happy to know that they will be receiving smaller bills rather than packages, only to find out it’s just a bill!

New Microsoft Tool: Tafiti

Microsoft just launched a new tool called Tafiti. Tafiti is a new kind of search engine tool that uses Silverlight, Microsoft’s Flash. Tafiti looks really nice on the outside, but it’s basically just the same search engine allowing you to search the web, photos, news and more.

If you like looks over simplicity, you’ll like Tafiti. Tafiti is slightly slower than just using Live Search. One feature Tafiti provides is saving results. I really need to start saving my results, because I find that I am always looking for something again and again.

You are not required to use Internet Explorer, because it works with other browsers, including Firefox as long as you install Silverlight. I found a problem with that though. Silverlight told me there was an update when I went to Tafiti and tried it out, but after I went to sign in, it won’t let me use Tafiti now. It says I need to install Silverlight, which is already installed, even after restarting the browser. But, it works fine when opening IE.

It’s Just a Naked Vacuum

With the iRobot competition that just ended at PayPerPost’s blog, this is perfect. I just found a company called myRoomBud. It is a company started, built and run by kids. Why do kids get all the fun?

myRoomBud sells costumes for your iRobot Roomba and Scooba. I wish I had one because these costumes are really cute! The costumes are hand made by these kids.

The covers are made of soft thin alova suede. A bit furry but a perfect cover. All covers are hand made by us.

Their goal is to provide costumes for every Roomba and Scooba – “No more naked Roombas.”

Check out myRoomBud for more information!

Blog Battle Royale: iRobot First Round Winners

Thanks to everyone who voted for my robot! The voting is over and these are the winners:

19. I Need a Robot
13. Roomba and other such useful robots.
34. The Grand Pooba(h)
26. Only In My Dreams?
2. iRobot: Civic Doody?

Congratulations!

I think of them all, #2, iRobot: Civic Doody? should win. #13 was far too disgusting. The rest of the results are listed on the PayPerPost blog.

Skype Outtage

A lot of people were unable to use Skype for two days. They claim it’s due to a Windows Update, which was caused by everyone’s computer restarting and logging into Skype all at once. That’s a good reason, but shouldn’t Skype already be prepared for a lot of people signing in at once? I guess that wasn’t entirely the only reason behind it being down.

The disruption was initiated by a massive restart of our user’s computers across the globe within a very short timeframe as they re-booted after receiving a routine software update.

Normally Skype’s peer-to-peer network has an inbuilt ability to self-heal, however, this event revealed a previously unseen software bug within the network resource allocation algorithm which prevented the self-healing function from working quickly. Regrettably, as a result of this disruption, Skype was unavailable to the majority of its users for approximately two days.
