Be a Better Blogger: PostieCon ‘07

Even though I don’t plan on traveling to Orlando, I think PostieCon (PayPerPost’s first annual blog conference on June 1-2) is a great idea. I know I could be a better blogger; we all probably could use tips here and there. The goal of PostieCon is to teach bloggers about becoming better at what they do and give ideas for building more traffic and getting people to actually read the content you put in your blog and hopefully come back for more!

Some of the most well known bloggers have been invited, including Robert Scoble. He started off as being against PayPerPost, but I guess isn’t so much anymore. I wonder what he’ll have to share at PostieCon? One other speaker is David Ponce.

Switched Hosts

Just today I switched from one host to a new one. Since it was time to renew, I wanted to look around to see if I could get more space, bandwidth and features for less. I decided to go with HostRocket, partly because David mentioned them, and the other reason has to do with a really great plan they have.

I’d say that the transfer went almost smoothly besides the editing of a few files and learning how to do things on this new host. Any questions I had were answered in just minutes! There was no downtime from the domain transferring to the new nameserver. Hopefully I don’t run into any problems. If any of you notice anything strange, please let me know!

swfIR: Image Replacement

I don’t even remember how I found this, but I think it was as I was going through one website to the next. You know how that goes, right?

Anyway, if you’d like to change how your images are displayed on your website, this might be for you. It looks really nice, too! It’s called swfIR, which stands for swf image replacement. It uses JavaScript and Flash and can add a shadow, rounded corners, a border, and even rotate the image.

My Favorite Place to Shop

Since I’m pregnant, I have to shop for those baby items again, and my favorite place is Target. They have everything I need; good quality at affordable prices. Target has some good coupon deals going on right now. 10% off sounds good to me! I haven’t signed up to the baby registry at Target though, so if you’re looking for that, I wasn’t planning on registering. Sorry! I just don’t want to spend the time figuring out what we need and then go through Target to select everything for the registry.

I have seen this on many blogs, but have never checked to see how much my blog is worth. So, after seeing it again, I thought I would check. I didn’t expect much, but it turns out that my blog is worth $1,693.62! I can’t believe that. So, anyone want to send $1,693.62 to my PayPal account? Please?
